Eric Quizon describes working with Paolo Ballesteros, Solenn Heussaff in My 2 Mommies;reunites with Maricel Soriano

"Once a Regal Baby, always a Regal Baby," beamed Eric Quizon, apparently grateful to still be working with Regal Entertainment, Inc. even after so many years.
Like many big names in showbiz today, it was Regal that launched Eric as a movie star in the ‘80s.
Though he has established a name for himself, Eric, who is also a director, producer and a writer, continues to work with Regal, serving as a member of their Creative Team.
Currently, he is the director of the movie My 2 Mommies, a touching story about what it really means to be a mother.
A Mother’s Day film offering, the movie stars Paolo Ballesteros, Solenn Heussaff, Joem Bascon, and Ms. Maricel Soriano.
The trailer has gone viral and as of April 20, it has generated more than four million views, an indication that this movie appeals to a huge audience on the online world.
The movie is a heartwarming story about a successful gay guy, Manu (Paolo), living in the closet.
One day, his female best friend, Monique (Solenn), shows up and admits to Manu that they have a son together.

Is Manu courageous enough to confess to his son his real identity and is he ready to the responsibilities to be a parent?
Eric has nothing but good words for the stars of My 2 Mommies.
This is his first time to direct Paolo in a full-length movie.
“I must say I’m very impressed, he’s good, very witty, very smart,” he described Paolo.
“He’s the type only a few people would do, na iba-iba ang sasabihin niya sa bawat take ng same scene. Bihira lang yung ganyan na artista.”
He is also highly impressed with Paolo’s flair for comedy.
“You can tell talaga na pang-comedy siya kasi mahilig siyang mag-adlib. Hindi siya papayag na masasapawan siya.”
The director-actor explained that Paolo’s comedic skills have been honed through his stint in the daily noontime show Eat Bulaga!
“Nahahasa ka pag nagtatrabaho sa TV.
“You get trained to be more prepared.”
Initially, Eric explained that he had reservations about working with Solenn.
“Nung una ang impression ko, ang tingin mo sa kanya nakakailang—maybe because of her features, and maybe because she is French.”
When he got to know her, Eric realized that his first impression of Solenn was wrong.
“Very professional. She’s no diva whatsoever. Magaan katrabaho. ‘Pag sinabi mong ganito, gagawin niya. ‘Pag sinabi mong tumambling siya, ta-tumbling siya talaga.”
This movie also serves as a reunion project for Eric and Maricel Soriano, who both did numerous acting projects together in the past.
Eric revealed that he approached Maricel and asked her to do the movie as a favor.
“It’s always a breeze working with her, kasi kami ni Maria we understand each other.
“So iba din kasi yung meron kang relationship na gano’n sa isang tao na you consider na family, at the same time, katrabaho mo.
This is Solenn’s second time to work with Maricel.
They were both part of the 2011 movie Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.
Though her scenes with seasoned actress were limited in this comedy movie, Solenn still attested to the veteran actress’s brilliance as a thespian.
“Si Miss Maricel I only had one scene with her, but I love her in the trailer. Super funny siya,” she commended.
“Alam ko na funny siya, pero when I saw the trailer, kakaiba the way she delivers her lines.”
“I worked with her before, mas serious lang ang role niya nung last time, so ibang side ni Maricel ngayon.”
She added that she appreciates Maricel’s humility despite being an A-list star.
“When she’s on set, super saya.
“She makes conversation.
“You’d think a big star like her will stay to her own, but makwento siya.”
On the other hand, Paolo is honored to work with Maricel in this project.
He said that he looks up to her as a comedienne and as a dramatic actress.
“Nakakatawa siya, ang daming sinasabi pag tuloy-tuloy na ang antic niya.
“Pero lahat nakakatawa, lahat pasok,” he described Maricel.
“Napapanood ko lang siya dati. Tapos tawang-tawa ako sa mga pelikula niya, tapos naiiyak din ako sa mga pelikula niya.”
Meanwhile, this is Solenn’s first time to work Eric.
She said about her director, “Super bait siya. I love that he’s very professional, very young at heart.”
She continued that while Eric appears chill, his presence commands respect.
“He respects all the actors, never siya sumigaw.
“He treats everyone equally.”
My 2 Mommies, top-billed by Paolo Ballesteros, Solenn Heussaff and Maricel Soriano, opens in cinemas on May 9.
It also stars Joem Bascon, Diane Medina, Marcus Cabais, Mich Ligayu and more.
