Winwyn Marquez is still in disbelief now that she is a leading-lady material.
After co-starring with Vhong Navarro in the 2018 comedy movie Unli Life, the 26-year-old actress is top-billing the upcoming Valentine movie Time and Again, produced by Regal Entertainment, Inc.
Winwyn considers Time and Again as her launching movie because the story revolves around her character, Apple.
“Parang hindi pa rin nagsi-sink in sa akin, actually. Parang launching movie ko na rin kasi yung story umiikot kay Apple. I never thought I’d watch myself on the big screen. Hindi ko alam na mabibigyan ako ng ganong opportunity,” she explained.
Though she has been active in the business for almost a decade now, it is only now that Winwyn is getting her big breaks.
Admittedly, the big part of her ongoing showbiz success is because of winning an international crown.
In 2015, Winwyn became the first-ever Filipina to join the Reina Hispanoamericana beauty pageant, which has been dominated by Latina representatives since it started 27 years ago.
Winwyn made history when she took home the crown.
“Dun nag-start at nag-iba ang life ko. After that, parang one dream to another, na sabay-sabay: movies movies, and then pageants, and then my advocacy program ko.”
WORKING WITH ENZO
In the movie, Winwyn gets to work with a long-time friend Enzo Pineda.
The actress said that she and Enzo go way, way back.
When Enzo joined StarStruck, the reality-based artista search in GMA-7, it was also the same time that Winwyn entered showbiz.
“I’ve known Enzo for nine years, since I started showbiz. Sabay kaming nag-showbiz,” she explained.
As for working with Enzo, Winwyn said, “Sobrang saya kasi it’s so much easier to act when you’re with someone you’re comfortable with and you know. Wala talagang ilangan. Madali lang kaming mag-communicate. Magtitigan lang kami alam na namin yung gagawin. It’s such a smooth sailing shooting.”
“Sana makita nila ang chemistry, kasi kami ni Enzo naramdaman namin.”
RELATIONSHIP WITH MARK
Meanwhile, the actress was elusive when asked about boyfriend Mark Herras.
Asked about their relationship, she replied, “Okay lang. Busy kasi siya, busy rin ako. I think we’re doing our own thing. We’re okay.”
She added, “We’re doing our own thing na. We’re focusing on our own thing. He has his own thing. I have my own thing.”
Winwyn refused to go into details.
When asked about the status of her heart, she said, “Masaya pa rin kasi ang daming blessings na dumarating. Hindi ako nababakante, so walang negativity, walang ibang iniisip kundi yung work. Totoo naman. Ang daming pumapasok. Happy ako kasi ang daming work.”

Meanwhile, Winwyn elaborated about her character in Time and Again.
“Siya yung no boyfriend since birth. Siya yung hindi naniniwala sa pagkakaroon ng boyfriend. And she has her own bubble. Kasi writer din siya. Yung mga nai-imagine niya, sinusulat lang niya. Pero in real life, hindi niya nagagawa, hindi siya maka-explore. Ang life niya yung books lang niya. Yun lang yung reality lang niya.
“Then one day, si Cupid biglang tinamaan siya kay Enzo, si Ozzi, dun nag-start yung story.
Without spilling too much, Winwyn revealed an important plot in the movie: “If bibigyan ka ng chance to go back in time, ang question don, bakit babalik ka in time?”
Winwyn is also excited to portray a character which is different from the ones she portrayed in the past.
“Ngayon lang ako gumanap sa ganoong klaseng role na hindi made up. Lagi akong kontrabida.
“Dito it’s special because very deep siyang mag-isip and she’s a normal girl. It’s very different, very mellow lang siya. Napaka-millennial at hindi ko pa nagagawa yon.”
Time And Again is directed by Joey Reyes and opens in cinemas on February 20.
