Viewers who got the chance to see Mina-Anud could not help but rave about this budding local movie gem.
It is funny, an eye-opener, socially relevant, and worthwhile.

Interestingly, the movie is not a work of fiction: its story and characters are based on real-life events and people.
“Mina-Anud is a kind of film that should be promoted in Philippine Film Industry. Sana ganito ang mga film sa Pinas, hindi mababaw. Deserve ng Mina-Anud na mapanuod at ma-appreciate ng mga Filipino,” writes @bubblypong on Twitter.

When the film recently conducted a special screening in Cebu, the viewers—consisting of students, press, and filmmakers—highly applauded the film.
One of the praises that the movie received is that it succeeds in being funny while tackling a serious topic.
Though told in a humorous manner, the film still succeeds in sending the message across to viewers.
“The film is fantastic. It’s a fun ride. I would definitely recommend it for those who wants to see a wild story, unusual story, great scenery, great performances, no question I would recommend it.” says Dave McVeigh of Cebu.
Entertainment editor Troy Ciar of Sun Star Super Balita shares, “It is amazing and brave movie, I hope everybody will watch it. Nice, very nice, two thumbs up I’m recommending it.”
The students of San Jose Recoletos University: “I think it was genius the way they made the film. The film is a telling art, very relevant, very significant that needs to be seen by all the people. Kahit intense yung mga scenes mapapatawa ka talaga dahil sa actors’ skills.”
Multi-awarded actor Dennis Trillo, who is one of the lead stars, beams that Mina-Anud is a project who had been waiting for.

The story is based on real-life events that happened in 2009 in Eastern Samar, where bags of cocaine drifted to the shore a fishing village.
In the movie, these illegal drugs become the catalyst of events that change the lives of the island’s residents.
The film shows the characters get involved in drug-selling to earn instant cash to experience the luxuries of life, such as flat screen televisions, motorcycles, cars, and jewelries.
Dennis is Ding, the leader of Borongan surfers, who is also a family man with issues with his wife Gina, the breadwinner.
Jerald portrays Carlo, a great surfer, who seems to fail at becoming the best. Just like most of his fellow surfers, Carlo dreams of joining an international surfing competition and marrying a Caucasian girlfriend.
With dreams that they have yet to realized, Ding and Carlo see an opportunity to make their lives better through selling illegal drugs for money.
But is instant money from illegal activity worth one’s dignity?
Joining them is Matteo Guidicelli, who portrays Paul, an aspiring celebrity and TV show host who deals party drugs to Manila’s elite and showbiz circles.
An interesting fact: director Kerwin Go, has witnessed with his own eyes the true events, which the film is based on.
Kerwin explains, “I was there and witnessed this first hand. The characters in the film are all based on friends and acquaintances who gave in to the temptation of easy money. Some made it out with their wallets heavier, some weren’t lucky and would up in jail.”
One of the awards that Mina-Anud bagged is the Basecamp Colour Prize at Singapore’s Southeast Asia Film Financing (SAFF) Forum in 2017.
Established in 2016, SAFF serves as an exciting platform in assembling the best feature-length film concepts and the top filmmakers and producers from Southeast Asia and Europe to meet with international co-producing partners, festival programmers, distributors, commissioners, and financiers.
Joining the cast are Alvin Anson, Mara Lopez, Anthony Falcon, Marc Felix, Lou Veloso, Richard Manabat, Dionne Monsanto, Elia Ilano, Lui Manansala, and Luke Landrigan.
